ACMR Call for Paper Submissions
Happy new year from the ACMR board of officers!
This is a final call for submissions to the Barbara B. Smith and the Rulan Chao Pian 2009 paper prizes.
The Barbara B. Smith prize for the best student paper is awarded on a yearly basis to recognize an outstanding student paper in the field of Chinese music, broadly defined, presented at the annual national Society for Ethnomusicology meeting. The prize is accompanied by a $100 award.
The Rulan Chao Pian prize for best published paper recognizes the best article on Chinese music, broadly defined, published in an English‐language scholarly journal within the past year. The prize is accompanied by a $100 award.
Only current dues-paying members of ACMR are eligible for paper submissions. To renew your membership, send a check (made out to "Association for Chinese Music Research") for $15/regular members or $10/student members to the treasurer, Alan Kagan at:
Alan L. Kagan,
1376 Christensen Ave.
West St. Paul, MN 55118
Submissions must be sent via email to ACMR president, Fred Lau (fredlau@hawaii.edu) and must include:
- A cover page that includes the presenter/author’s name, paper’s title, e‐mail address, and phone number. For the best published article, include the journal name, volume, year, and inclusive page numbers.
- One electronic copy of the paper. Names and other identifying material should not be included in the body of the article to facilitate blind assessment.
- For student prize only: A written description of any audio and visual materials. This should be attached as an appendix to the paper in lieu of the actual audio and visual items.
The final deadline for submissions is Jan. 31, 2010.
We hope many of you will take this opportunity to submit eligible papers and to renew your involvement in ACMR.
Sincerely,
ACMR Officers
